An excerpt from The Hockey News (Linda Mankefors):

Here’s another one: Mats Sundin returns to his mother club Djurgarden IF. Hold your breath, it’s only one rumor of many.

Is there one rumor about Mats Sundin that holds a truth? It is honoring for Swedish hockey a 37 year old veteran still creates so much interest that the whole National Hockey League and its followers is holding its breath where he will land. Well you might end up disappointed. I was talking yesterday to a person inside the Swedish Icehockey Organization who said Mats already has made up his mind, it’s only a matter of missing details.

This same person wants to remain anomynous so I wouldn’t bet more money on this rumor than any other. However it would make sense. Sundin isn’t getting younger, he would love to end his career with another SM-Guld for his old club, and he would get the chance to lead the Swedish National Team to new triumphs. A father figure for the new hot young generation. He has afterall been a strong critic of the lack of heart, effort, and absence of professional players in the National Team. The ridicoulous excuses our NHL pro’s are declaring these days to avoid the National Team are an insult.
