The first round of cuts from Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp was announced Tuesday morning, and it included Montreal Canadiens’ fifth round pick Brendan Gallagher of the WHL’s Vancouver Giants.

Gallagher had a hand in Team White’s 7-5 victory over Team Red in Monday night’s final intrasquad game, registering the goal that gave his side the lead for the first time in the game.  Neither Louis Leblanc nor Michaël Bournival recorded a point in this matchup, yet they both survived this first round of cuts.

The next round of cuts is set to take place Wednesday, where nine other players will be released from camp and the final squad representing Team Canada will be named.

Players released from NJT Selection Camp:
Jesse Blacker (Owen Sound, OHL)
Braydon McNabb (Kootenay, WHL)
Ryan Howse (Chilliwack (WHL)
Reilly Smith (Miami University)
Garrett Wilson (Owen Sound, OHL)
Brendan Gallagher (Vancouver, WHL)
Joey Hishon (Owen Sound)
Brad Ross (Portland, WHL)
Linden Vey (Medecine Hat, WHL).
