Wild trade Brian Rolston’s rights to Lightning.

TSN:
The Minnesota Wild traded forward Brian Rolston‘s rights to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a conditional draft pick in either the 2009 or 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Habster:

WOW!!!, when the Koules and Barrie ownership group bought the Lightning for $206 million, they stated that they would be “shockingly aggressive” in free agency to help improve the roster. They have kept their word and if they can persuade Brian Rolston to follow Ryan Malone’s lead with a signature on a contract offer, then the Lightning will be a much improved hockey team.

I can imagine Marian Hossa, Jaromir Jagr and Mats Sundin will be licking their chops with the thought of two top ten UFA forwards like Malone and potentially Rolston off the market. The market place for elite forwards just got a little more expensive today.
