Game Report

Marty St. Louis was taught a lesson in Raleigh. Post-game, the Canadiens head coach said that he realizes just how much his team needs to progress before they get to the level of the Hurricanes.

The Canadiens did their best to make a game of it and for two periods the score was close. But even for the first 40 minutes Carolina dominated offensive zone time. The Hurricanes were outshooting the Habs 29-16 before the second intermission.

In the third period, the Hurricanes scored four unanswered goals in a rout. Seth Jarvis put the stamp on his first NHL hat trick with a short-handed goal. Jesperi Kotkaniemi blew past Alex Belzile to score his ninth goal of the season in spectacular fashion against his former teammates.

Kirby Dach was a noticeable absence in this game. Suffering an illness, Dach was a late scratch being replaced by Rem Pitlick.

Justin Barron suffered an injury when he slammed awkwardly into the boards and retired early from the contest.
