Game Report

It was another case of the Canadiens falling behind early on the road. Just 2:25 from the drop of the puck Casey Cizikas opened the scoring for the Islanders. Less than four minutes later, David Savard lost track of Anthony Beauvillier and the Isles had a 2-0 lead. Just that quickly Nick Suzuki was a minus-2.

The home team put a stranglehold on the Canadiens for the rest of the game and controlled play. Suzuki got one goal back in the third period using his reach to puck a shot past Ilya Sorokin. It was Suzuki’s first goal since December 17th.

The final score flattered the Habs as they could not get their offence in gear at even strength or on the power-play. Montreal generated just none high danger chances in three periods.

Marty St. Louis decided to deploy just 11 forwards and seven defencemen again for this game. Jake Evans suffered an injury at the end of the first period and did not return. Montreal was left with 10 forwards for the final 40 minutes.

The Canadiens haven’t won two games in a row since November.  They have now lost seven straight games on the road.
