The Canadiens kicked off the week with a Monday night matchup against the Vancouver Canucks.  It took a while for the Habs offense to get going, but Lars Eller changed the momentum with a short-handed goal midway through the second period.  Max Pacioretty potted a goal just a couple of minutes later.  Tomas Fleischmann, plaing in his 600th NHL game, tied the game late in the third period and forced overtime.  David Desharnais finished the comeback in the extra minutes.  Final score: Canadiens, 4-3 (OT). Thursday night, the Arizona Coyotes stormed into town and took control of the scoreboard early on.  Pacioretty finally got the Habs on the board late in the second, but the damage had been done.  The team scrambled to make a comeback with Dale Weise getting them to within one goal, but the Coyotes kept pushing them back. The Habs traveled to New York on Friday night for the first half of a home-and-home against the Islanders.  It was a banner night for Jeff Petry who tallied two goals, helping to chase Jaroslav Halak from the net, in addition to Fleischmann and Nathan Beaulieu. The officials caused some controversy when a New York was allowed despite contact with Carey Price.  Brendan Gallagher sealed the win for Montreal with an empty netter in the final seconds of the game.  Final score: Canadiens, 5-3. Things got off to another slow start on Sunday night when the Islanders came to Montreal.  Desharnais came up big with a power play goal, as did Alex Galchenyuk.  Two more goals, including an empty-netter by Pacioretty led the Habs to a win.  But it would be bad news after the game for Brendan Gallagher, who left the game after blocking a shot with his hand.  The Canadiens immediately announced he would need surgery to repair two broken fingers and will be out indefinitely.  Final score: Canadiens, 4-2.
