Habs fans had to wait until Wednesday to get a glimpse of their team in action this week.  The Canadiens, and their dads, traveled to Pittsburgh for a midweek game against the Penguins.  Pascal Dupuis lit the lamp mere seconds after the initial puck drop, but Andrei Markov came back with a power play goal just a few minutes later.  The opening frame ended much the same way it started, with Phil Kessel potting one with under a minute to go.  The second period was stronger, with goals from Brendan Gallagher and Brian Flynn.  The Pens tied the score late in the third and eventually took the win in a shootout. Final score: Penguins, 4-3 (SO). (Read our full recap here: Habs Pick Up a Point in Pittsburgh)

Saturday night brought a dismal night of hockey for Habs fans. A poor Colorado Avalanche team came into the Bell Centre and made it look like they owned the place, scoring three goals in the just the first period.  Additional Avs scoring in the second chased Mike Condon out of the net, bringing backup Dustin Tokarski in for the final period.  Gallagher scored the only goal for the Habs, which wasn’t nearly enough.  Final score: Avalanche, 6-1. The Canadiens don’t have much time to dwell on this week’s losses, as they take the ice again on Monday night when the Vancouver Canucks come to town.  Until then, we’ve got plenty of content to keep you busy reading about your favourite team!
