It wasn’t a pretty week for the Montreal Canadiens and their fans.  Things kicked off on the road this week in Nashville where the Habs managed two goals in the second period from Brendan Gallagher and David Desharnais, but despite keeping the score close enough to force overtime they couldn’t pot one more for the victory.  Final score: Predators, 3-2 (OT). On Thursday night the Canadiens headed to Winnipeg to take on the Jets.  Dustin Tokarski was in net while Carey Price had a night of rest, but the Jets figured out how to light the lamp early and often.  Andrei Markov scored in the second frame and Gallagher got an empty-netter in the third, but a disorganized defense and sloppy zone play left them out of the win column. Final score: Jets, 5-2. (Read our full recap here: Habs Can’t Compete Without Their MVP)

It got physical in Montreal on Saturday night when the Florida Panthers came to town.  The Habs seemed set on turning around their losing streak and Lars Eller got the Canadiens on the board in the first period.  A lot of scrums seemed to appear after plays were whistled dead as things stayed tense and chippy.  Alex Galchenyuk scored a power play goal in the third period, while Price performed well to keep the Panthers at bay despite getting run into by opponents and teammates alike.  Max Pacioretty tallied the winning goal in overtime.  Final score: Canadiens, 3-2.
