And who do you have to thank? Claude Julien, you say?
Well, that’s true. Coach Julien did pen Price’s name into the goaltender slot for the fourth consecutive game. And for the fourth time Price delivered particularly in the first period when the Canadiens were still searching for their skating legs that they left on the plane. Being down just 2-1 after 20 minutes was testament to just how good Price was after the Canadiens were outshot 13-6, gave up numerous odd man rushes and were dominated by the home team. It also helped that Brendan Gallagher’s engine was running on high recording his first of two goals on the night. The second assist went to the newly-arrived Daniel Carr. The point by Carr began what would turn out to be a theme on the night: contributions from young talent. Rookie Charles Hudon scored his third of the season early in the second period to tie the game. 43 seconds the Canadiens permanently changed the direction of the night in their favor on a goal by Andrew Shaw. Before the period was done, Jacob De La Rose retrieved the puck twice to perfectly set up Alex Galchenyuk giving the visitors a 4-2 lead after 40 minutes. It was a three point night for Gallagher including two goals. On his line, Tomas Plekanec had two assists. Phillip Danault and Jeff Petry also had two assists each. Points from Galchenyuk, Carr, De la Rose and Hudon added up to a great night from the young Canadiens. But once again it is the Canadiens franchise goaltender who has carried his team to a playoff spot. ~~~ ▲ Brendan Gallagher, Carey Price, Tomas Plekanec, Charles Hudon, Jacob De La Rose, Alex Galchenyuk ▼ Nicolas Deslauriers, Byron Froese |
