This saddens me. I hate to say it, but I would probably offer Komisarek 5 million to stay. I think losing someone that you've invested 8 years in for nothing would be a shame, especially if you have to go out and overspend on another guy like Hamrlik just to fill the void.
Granted there are young kids on the way, but defensemen take a long time to develop at the NHL level.
I hope we don't have to add Komi's name to Souray and Streit's as defensemen that we lost for zilch.
In my opinion, I think Gainey should either sign him or trade him for his negotiation rights at the draft in Montreal this Friday.
