MONCTON, N.B. – What an interesting week it was for the Montreal Canadiens to say the least. After losing their first two games this week, they rallied back and won back-to-back afternoon games on Saturday and Sunday.
Here are my choices for the top three stars of this week:
First Star: P.K. Subban
He had a fantastic week, registering one goal and four assists. He is currently on a six-game point streak (2 goals, 7 assists). He is the first Canadiens player to reach the 40-point mark this season. He is leading all NHL defensemen with 21 power play points and is ranked second with 37 assists.
Second Star: Tomas Plekanec
He earned a total of five points this week (1 goal, 4 assists), including a four-point game against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. He is ranked second on the team in assists (29) and points (39).
Third Star: Ben Scrivens
Although he had a rough 0-4-0 start with the Canadiens, Scrivens surely redeemed himself this weekend in back-to-back afternoon wins against the Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes respectively. He was great in net, only letting in 2 goals on 59 shots. He also stopped all the shots he faced in the shootout against Carolina.
Honorable Mention: Sven Andrighetto
Despite only playing in three of the four games this week, he recorded a total of six shots, four hits and a shootout winner. In fact, he also recorded the shootout winner in the November 27th win against the New Jersey Devils.
