Game Report

Going into this game, it was billed a mismatch. And then overnight, Kyle Dubas landed one of the biggest targets of the trade deadline. The energy boost and the talent upgrade was more than enough to overwhelm the Canadiens on this night.

After a scoreless first period, the Canadiens opened the scoring just 42 seconds into the middle frame. Josh Anderson scored his obligatory goal against the Maple Leafs. In 30 career games against Toronto, Anderson has 13 goals, nine as a member of the Canadiens.

But Anderson’s early second period tally was the only time the visitors would celebrate on this night. 

The Maple Leafs went on to score five unanswered goals with contributions from their depth players. Pierre Engvall and David Kampf chipped in with goals while Joseph Woll picked up his first win of the season in net.

Corey Schueneman made his season debut for the Canadiens stepping in for Chris Wideman who was a healthy scratch. Kirby Dach missed his second straight game with an illness.
