Habs Claim Brooks

The Canadiens claimed forward Adam Brooks off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 25-year-old forward has played 164 games over five seasons with the Toronto Marlies. Brooks also recorded four goals and one assist for five points in 11 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2020-21.

Forwards / Defence / Goaltenders

On Monday morning, the Canadiens practiced at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard in preparation for their first regular season game on Wednesday.

Forward Cedric Paquette returned to practice after recovering a groin injury. Goaltender Jake Allen worked separately with goaltending coach Eric Raymond before practice began.

These were the forward lines, defence pairings and goaltenders:

Tyler Toffoli – Nick Suzuki – Cole Caufield
Jonathan Drouin – Christian Dvorak – Josh Anderson
Joel Armia – Jake Evans – Brendan Gallagher
Artturi Lehkonen – Mathieu Perreault – Cedric Paquette
Alex Belzile – Ryan Poehling

Brett Kulak – Jeff Petry
Ben Chiarot – David Savard
Alexander Romanov – Chris Wideman
Kaiden Guhle – Sami Niku

Cayden Primeau – Samuel Montembeault

Final Cuts

The Montreal Canadiens have cut defenseman Kaiden Guhle and goaltender Cayden Primeau from the roster. Primeau was assigned to the Laval Rocket while Guhle was returned to the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL.

“They’re guys that need to play. They need responsibilities to continue to mature. It’s not a knock against them. On the contrary, we believe that they need this time to further develop,” explained Dominique Ducharme. “We liked Guhle’s camp. He showed a lot of good things. We saw a player who should have a great career and enjoy a lot of success. He’ll be a leader on this team. In his case, everything is positive. We just want him to keep developing and gain experience. For Primeau, it’s important to play games. We want him to play a lot so he can keep growing.”
