Tomas Tatar netted two of his own and now has three goals to start the season. But it was Carey Price who shutdown the high octane offence of the Edmonton Oilers with 34 saves. Price was also the Canadiens best penalty-killer making 10 saves with the Oilers going 0-for-3 with the man advantage. Edmonton had the NHL’s number one power-play last season. Price stopped Connor McDavid on a first period breakaway for one of his numerous outstanding saves after the league’s best skater stole the puck and blew by defenceman Joel Edmundson. Jake Evans had a solid bounce-back game scoring a short-handed goal after struggling in the season opener. Besides his goal of the season, Evans had four shots on goal and was 50 percent at the faceoff dot. The same could be said about the Canadiens top line who weren’t a factor in Wednesday night’s game. In addition to the two goals by Tomas Tatar, Brendan Gallagher earned two assists. Phillip Danault had a tough night on faceoffs winning just 36 percent of his draws. Busy WeekAfter securing three of a possible four points in their opening two games, the Canadiens will now play four games in six nights starting with a rematch with the Oilers on Monday night.
