Price’s Best Saves of 2020-21

While Canadiens franchise player Carey Price recovers from knee surgery this off-season, let’s take a few minutes to review his best saves of the 2020-21 NHL season.

Price led the team in wins with 12 on the way to the playoffs after a sparkling month of March where he lost just one game in regulation in nine starts with a 1.87 goals against average and a .931 save percentage.

In the playoffs, Price was sensational carrying the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup Final.

Two Goals for Norlinder

Montreal Canadiens prospect Mattias Norlinder played his first pre-season game for Frolunda on Tuesday. The 21-year-old defenceman scored twice as Frolunda suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to Rogle BK in SHL exhibition action.

Norlinder’s first goal of the season came as he moved into the circle and released a quick shot to the top of the net.

Norlinder’s second goal of the game was a tap-in as the puck popped loose from a scrum in front of the net.

In September, Norlinder will be at the Canadiens training camp for the first time vying for a position on the roster.

Tony O Loses His Battle

Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Tony Esposito has died after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 78.

“‘Tony O’ was a fierce competitor who also took great pride in being an entertainer,” said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, “whether it was with his pioneering butterfly style during his playing days or interacting with fans across the League as one of this game’s great ambassadors.”

The Montreal Canadiens signed Esposito after a successful three year college career at Michigan Tech. Esposito played 13 games for the Canadiens during their 1968-69 Stanley Cup winning season. Esposito was selected by the Chicago Black Hawks in an intraleague draft when Montreal chose to protect veteran goaltender Gump Worsley.

Esposito went on to win 418 games with the Blackhawks from 1969 to 1984.
