Montreal Canadiens call up Matt D’Agostini

Matt D’Agostini could be in the line-up for the Canadiens against Washington for his first action this year. His call-up is a precaution as both Alex Tanguay (stiff neck) and Alex Kovalev are ailing after Wednesday’s game in Detroit. Guy Carbonneau felt both had a good chance of playing after a day of therapy. Guillaume Latendresse has recovered from his injury and will be available if Carbonneau so chooses for Friday’s game.

Josh Gorges was also injured on Wednesday. He has a contusion on his left knee after blocking a shot.

Jaroslav Halak will get the start in net for Montreal. RDS reports that Jose Theodore will be in goal for Washington.

  1. I think they trade a forward to make room for D’Agostini soon. My bet is A. Kostitsyn. D’Ago has been more productive in the AHL at the same stages of his career and is a better two way player.
