Game Preview |
A Look Back
A rested Leafs team took advantage of a run-down Habs squad to get an early lead. Montreal limited their chances but Toronto took advantage of the opportunities to easily handle the Habs. The game seemed a lot closer than the score dictated but in the end Habs mental mistakes and goaltending cost them the game.

Players to Watch
- Cole Caufield
Caulfield has a ton of skill but was much more tentative in his second NHL game.
- Jeff Petry
The Habs coaching staff have been seemingly blind to the multiple poor performances. Petry has struggled the last two months and the Habs will go nowhere if he doesn’t fix his game fast.
- Joel Armia
Armia had a chance to make a difference last game but lacked finish. The former first round pick is playing for a contract next season.
Keys to Victory
- Rebound from a loss
After a tough loss the Habs need to shake it off get back to the things they do good and secure a playoff spot.
- Attack the net
The Jets have lost five in a row and the Habs could potentially leapfrog them for third place with a strong finish to the season. The key will be to get an early start.
- Win special teams
The penalty-kill has been terrible all season long and were victimized last game. The Habs need to get pucks out when they have the chance.

Pre-game Quotes |
Corey Perry
- “That’s one thing we’ve talked about, what’s in front of us. You want to be in the playoff picture at this time of year and we’re in a good spot. We hold the cards. At the end of the day, we’re up by four points right now over Calgary, so we’ve just got to take care of business here at home and go from there, and then start looking forward.”

Game Expectations |
It’s the final regular season game between the Jets and Habs as both teams look to get back on track. The Habs have been inconsistent for weeks as they are missing a big part of their lineup and will look to finish the last eight games as healthy as possible.
Bottom Line
On the other hand, the Jets lost one of their best forwards, in Nikolaj Ehlers who is out for the rest of the regular season, but still have plenty of fire power..
