Hurt by Hockey? You Could Win!

MONTREAL, QC — We are proud to announce that Visa has selected All Habs as a partner for their “Hockey Love Hurts” contest! To enter, participants are asked to describe ways in which your favourite NHL team is causing you emotional pain.

Have the Canadiens broken your heart?

How about that game in 2007 when the Habs had a 4-1 lead over the Preds with eight minutes to go and lost 5-4 in OT?

Remember the 2006 playoffs with the Habs up 2-0 in the series and Saku Koivu took a stick to the eye from Justin Williams? The Habs never recovered.

Do you have a favourite player who was seriously injured or out for the season?

How did you feel when your favourite player was traded away to another team?

In addition to the prizes listed at www.hockeylovehurts.ca, Visa has generously donated two $50 giftcards exclusively for the All Habs community.  And since we know that folks like you Leafs, Bruins and Sens fans have plenty to cry about too, we’re opening the contest doors to fans from all NHL teams!

We are offering two ways to win:

First, attend the Montreal Habs Tweetup on February 12, 2011. 1. Two years ago in the playoffs when the Devils lost to the Hurricanes in game 7 after Bordeur gav up like 3 goal inter last minutes o the game. I DIED INSIDE!

  2. The worst hurt was when Habs a 2-0 lead for the whole game I believe last year against Buffalo Sabres March 24th and at the last two minutes Sabres tied it up and then The Habs lost in SO. If we would of won that game. Maybe just squeeking into the playoffs wouldnt happen.

  3. When Saku Koivu signed with the Ducks. I feel like he should have been a bigger priority for management – don’t get me wrong, this year’s team is good, but they would be even better if he was still wearing the CH.

  4. I almost cried when the Habs were playing Boston in the playoffs. Kovalev took a little slash to the wrist, and gave up on the play. In the process, he took out his own D-man(Souray), and Glen Murray broke in all alone and scored to win it in OT.
    That was bad luck!

  5. I can’t help to go back to the year of the lockout. To go an entire season without NHL hockey was something, that’s when hockey love hurt me! Nothing really compares to that!

  6. It’s those damn Canes. They’ve broken my Thrashers loving heart with a last second goal. Cam Ward! You horrible, horrible person. My Thrashers make me sad as their playoff % has dropped from 20.8% to 12.2. I want to fight somebody and I’m not even drunk. So unfair.

  7. Oh the Habs, a lot of us have been hurt by our team but we never falter and continue to support them through the ups and downs. My hockey love hurts story is from the last time I saw the Habs here in Vancouver, yes, that 7-1 shellacking on October 7th 2009. My heart broke for Carey Price. I wanted to jump over the boards and give him a hug. I sat in my seat surrounded by gloating Canucks fans, holding in tears- there’s no crying in hockey. Then I remembered in the end it was just one game in my teams 100 year history and that we have 24 Stanley Cups- how many of those gloating Canuck fans can say that!

  8. The night I officially became a Habs fan, I went to my first game at Bell Centre. It was during the 100th Anniversary Season and it was a game vs Carolina; They were honoring all of the coaches who won the Stanley Cup with the Habs.

Scotty Bowman was one of the coaches being honored. I bumped into him before the ceremony in the hallway and I thought I’d recognized him as Coach Bowman but I said to myself, “No way- that couldn’t be him”. I didn’t realize until the pre-game ceremony that they were honoring the coaches and it WAS indeed him!

One of the greatest coaches in NHL history and I had a chance to meet him and missed out an a golden opportunity! I was kicking myself throughout the whole ceremony. Crap.

  9. Oh gee almost every Habs hockey game causes me emotional hurt. There are 2 vivid memories that came to mind right away. The first one was last year’s miracle playoff run. During the Habs vs Penguins game.I was on cloud nine due to the Habs making a statement against the Penguins. All of a sudden that came to a crashing and sinking halt. My heart along with many other emotions of hurt and pain flooded me. as i watched horrified as my favorite Habs Markov was violently hurled to the corner boards by Pens Matt Cooke (will never forget that) that caused Markov to miss an entire season due to repair a torn ACL ligament in his right knee.I was devastated not being able to watch Markov in the rest of the playoff run with the team.
Second emotional scar took place on Nov 16 2010. I was at the bell center for the Hurricanes vs Habs game. Was so happy to see that Markov mad a long full recovery from his knee injury. then game was going great until the unimagianble happened to Markov. He was in the corner making a play when Hurricane’s Eric Staal shoved him into the board heavily. Markov re injureed his repaired knee. I sunk in my seat as he threw his gloves off and lay there in pain. Everytinme i hear his name i get that image of him on the ice in pain holding his knee. That will forever stay in my mind, caused me so much pain just to look at Markov on the ice and thinking will he be able to continue hockey or will he have to retire. He had a 2 surgery and is in rehab. Every game i watch, i keep hoping that Markov’s name will be called.
