	On this day in hockey history… 1976 —Bobby Orr becomes the first defenseman in NHL history to reach 900 career points when he scores twice to help the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the St. Louis Blues 7-2 at Chicago Stadium.  1972 — Jacques Lemaire has his third career hat trick and gets an assist for a four-point night, helping the Montreal Canadiens defeat the New York Islanders 4-3 in Uniondale, N.Y.  2015 — The Montreal Canadiens break the NHL record for most consecutive wins at the start of a season by defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3 at Bell Centre.

► Weber Welcomed Warmly

• As was seen during the preseason, Shea Weber has been fully embraced by at least a portion of the Canadiens fan base, with Thursday night’s win against Arizona providing evidence.
• Weber scored his first goal as a Montreal Canadien during his fourth game with the club, finding the back of the net on a cannon of a one-timer from the left point on the powerplay.
• His goal was proceeded by a standing ovation from the Montreal faithful, continuing throughout the announcement of his name by public address announcer Michel Lacroix.
• In interview following the game, Weber noted that goal was one that he will never forget and was very special, and went on to praise the Montreal faithful.

► Redmond Out For Six Weeks

• Zach Redmond surprised many this training camp by beating out incumbent seventh defenceman Marc Barberio, however before being able to play a game for the club, he will be out for an extended periods of time.
• According to the Canadiens official Twitter account, Redmond broke his foot in practice this week and will be absent for the next six weeks.
• The 28-year old joined the Canadiens this off-season and, alongside Mikhail Sergachev, won a roster spot out of camp as the team’s eight defenceman.
• Redmond has spent his career between the Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche, spending the majority of his career with the former before signing with Montreal.

► Radulov Revered Montreal

• Montreal’s love affair with Alex Radulov has just begun, and it seems as though the KHL’s third all-time scorer very much wanted to get into this relationship.
• According to Pierre Lebrun, Radulov’s wish to sign for multiple season would’ve been achieved by signing a contract with a different organization, however he nevertheless chose Montreal.
• “There were teams actually offering two years, I know for a fact.” Lebrun mentioned on TSN 690, transcribed by Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot.
• Lebrun went on further to praise the work of Marc Bergevin in acquiring Radulov’s services “LeBrun/Radulov: I think sales job Bergevin performed was huge. Probably helped by fact that Radulov loved his experience in Q too.”

► Weise Suspended

• Dale Weise signed a four year $9.4 million contract with Philadelphia in the offseason, making $1.4 million less than Andrew Shaw, however in his first month in Philly Weise has gotten into trouble.
• The former Canuck, Ranger, Blackhawk and Canadien was suspended for a trio of games following a check to the head of Anaheim’s Korbinian Holzer during the Flyers’ loss wearing those horrific gold numbered jerseys.
• This suspension is the second given to a Flyer since the beginning of hockey, with Radko Gudas, who is somehow still allowed to play in the NHL, having to sit six games for a hit on Boston forward Austin Czarnik.
• Weise has been off to a tumultuous start to his tenure in Philadelphia, failing to record a point in the team’s first four games, and now garnering the Flyers’ second suspension of this young season.

► Oh How They Are Let To Fall

• Former lauded first round pick Jarred Tinordi’s value may have been overvalued by the Canadiens fan base, including myself, and now has been given up for nothing by the Arizona Coyotes.
• The Coyotes submitted Jarred Tinordi to the waiver wire and subsequently the 6-foot-6-inch blueliner was assigned to the AHL, rather than stay in the NHL because they want to move his contract.
• The 24-year old only played seven games with Arizona following being dealt there last season, playing none this season, and, to this point in his career, still only playing 53 NHL games.
• The former 22nd overall pick’s development was clearly butchered, to the point where the most amount of games he’s ever played in an NHL season has been 22 in 2013-14 in Montreal.

#Coyotes have assigned defenseman Jarred Tinordi to their American Hockey League affiliate after Tinordi cleared waivers.

► Penguins Lose Another

• The Pittsburgh Penguins’ second title defence in the last decade has been off to a tempestuous beginning, with the team losing a fourth roster player to injury within two weeks.
• Former eight overall pick and current Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Derek Pouliot will be on the shelf for an extended period of time due to an injury that has yet to be disclosed to the public.
• Penguins GM Jim Rutherford told DK Pittsburgh sports that it was a serious injury “It’s going to be a while. I don’t know if they’ve put an actual projection on it as we speak but it’s going to be a while.”
• Pouliot sat the beginning of the season in Pittsburgh, only entering the lineup once the aforementioned Letang was injured in a game against the Canadiens during their home opener Tuesday night.
