► Price injured during playoffs?

• Canadiens goaltending coach Stephane Waite was recently interviewed by TVA sports and divulged injury news about Carey Price in the playoffs. Waite said, “Against the Lightning,  Carey had a couple injuries that he didn’t divulge, he wasn’t physically at his maximum, and it was evident a couple times but he’s human.”
• Waite said that the decision to play was left to Price, saying “Often we asked him if he could play at night and he did it.”
• Waite explained how Price sets a very high bar for his own play. Waite said, “Carey isn’t satisfied with his playoffs he wants to be better, he’s a guy who hard on himself, he’s rarely happy, rarely satisfied and he thinks he can be even better.”
• Is it possible for Price to repeat his extraordinary season of 2014-15? Waite says, “It’s going to be tough for him to repeat those stats but we’re not going to judge his performances on his stats from last year.”
• On Price having room to improve, Waite says, “Yes, you can always get better, I say when you’re good at something instead of being content that you’re good at it try to be super good and if you’re super good try to be extraordinarily good.”

► Gallagher shares thoughts on Lucic and the Habs

• Habs forward Brendan Gallagher was on TSN 1040 in Vancouver this week and spoke about members of the Canadiens organization and his friend Milan Lucic.
• Gallagher on Max Pacioretty’s offseason injury: “I’ve talked to him. He’s got a history of being a pretty quick healer so I expect him back pretty soon. He’s such an important piece of our team becoming a leader in our locker room […] I don’t think we’re too worried about Patch, he’s been injured before and come back even stronger.”
• On Milan Lucic: “I was happy with the trade, it’s nice to not see him six times a year and especially when he’d come to Montreal he’d always be a little bit extra motivated.”
• On the recently traded Brandon Prust: “I think fans [in Vancouver] are going to like the style of game he plays, the type of player he is. He’s an honest player, he’s going to stick up for every single teammate every single night.  He won’t take a night off.  Great guy in the locker room. [He] will fit in perfectly and I think fans are really going to enjoy watching him play.”
• On the recently acquired Zack Kassian: “I’m excited to watch him. I think he’s really excited for the opportunity. I expect him to do great things, everyone does. If he comes in and plays the style of hockey that he’s capable of doing, he’s going to be a very good player for us and that’s what we need.  He is a guy that can can play physical, handle the puck, score some goals. If he can show up every night and play his game, I think fans in Montreal are going to love him.”
• On playing for coach Michel Therrien: “I think it’s been really good for me. As a young guy I think he did it great with me and Galchenyuk there at the start. He made us earn every opportunity. If you want to get put on the ice in key situations, you have to show you are deserving of it. And once you do deserve it, he’s not afraid to put you out there in tough situations.”
• On Jeff Petry: “I think he fit in perfectly with our group. The style of game he plays, it was easy for him to come in and just be who he is. He didn’t have to overthink. He’s a very smart hockey player, he makes a great first pass. With our team no one really holds the puck all that much for too long. So he just came in, moved the puck out quickly, got it going and fit in perfectly. He might’ve been our best player in the playoffs.”

► Gingras goes to hockey school

• On the last of the Canadiens’ hockey school former Canadien Gaston Gingras came to spend some time with the kids.

• A Detroit news paper believes that Canadiens GM Serge Savard did a great job re-signing Jeff Petry.

► Sopel holds an all girls camp

• Former Hab and 13 year NHL veteran Brent Sopel took to the ice in an attempt to grow the women’s game. Sopel’s camp usually has $950 registration fee but the girls were told that their fee would be covered. Sopel explained his decision saying, “Essentially, what I want them to go back and build this camp little by little, year by year, just by the word of mouth, that they had a great time. They can spread the word that it was a great camp, that they were treated with respect, they learned a ton.”
• Sopel also says that an all girls camp has been requested since the creation of his camp four years ago, and he doesn’t understand why there aren’t more all girls hockey camps.
• Sopel played six different NHL teams in his career, recording 218 points in 659 regular season games and played 71 playoff games in which he picked up 18 points.

► Unhappy camper?

• When NHL commissioner Gary Bettman had a press conference to discuss Quebec City and Las Vegas’ submission for an expansion franchise, it appeared that he was not very pleased with the representatives from the GTA and Seattle. Bettman said, “Apparently, only Mr. Foley [Las Vegas] and Quebecor [Quebec City] have the confidence in their ability to secure an arena and suitable ownership capability to move forward with this process. We now intend to focus exclusively on the two expansion applications that have been submitted in accordance with the previously announced process. The process we have outlined for qualified applicants includes at least two more stages of documentation submission.”
• Only Quebec City and Las Vegas presented applications for an expansion franchise. Each applicant was required to submit an application fee of $10 million, of which $2 million is non-refundable.

► Higher payday than Price?

• Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby and his agents believe he should be the second highest paid goalie in the NHL. Holtby is reportedly asking for $8 million per season in arbitration while the Capitals are offering the 25-year old $5.1 million.
• The highest paid goalie in the NHL is Henrik Lundqvist at $8.5 annually. Carey Price, the MVP of the league is perhaps the most underpaid goaltender at $6.5 million.
• Holtby had a very good season with a 2.22 GAA and a .923 save percentage along with 41 wins. In the playoffs Holtby elevated his game posting a .944 save percentage and a 1.74 GAA but the Capitals were eliminated in the second round.

► Timonen finally gets his day

• Long time NHLer Kimmo Timonen finally had his day with the cup after a 16 drought. Timonen was traded to the Blackhawks at the trade deadline in exchange for a second round pick.
• Timonen spent the majority of his career dawning Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers jersey but finished off his career as a champion with the Chicago Blackhawks.
• He had no points in 18 games during this playoff run going in and out of the lineup. He also had no points in the 16 regular season games he spent with the ‘Hawks.
