	On this day in hockey history… 1960 — Gordie Howe scored a goal and an assist in his 888th career game to become the NHL’s all time leading scorer, with 947 points. He passed Montreal’s Maurice Richard as the Red Wings beat Chicago 3-1 in Detroit.  1966 — Chicago’s Bobby Hull scored four times (his 17th career hat trick) to become the first player in team history to score 300 goals.  1982 — Edmonton’s rookie goalie Grant Fuhr saw his 23-game unbeaten streak end with a 7-1 Oilers’ loss in Toronto. Fuhr’s 15-0-8 streak had begun on Oct. 21, 1981, after a loss in his first career NHL game.

► Anarchy

• Well, if in some strange turn of events this is the first you’re hearing of this, just breathe VERY SLOWLY.
• The Canadiens acquired horrific “hockey player” John Scott and Victor Bartley in exchange for former first round pick Jarred Tinordi, the three-way deal also saw Stefan Elliott consigned to the Coyotes.
• The potentially untenable transaction sent conspicuous shockwaves throughout social media and the hockey world in general as the Habs sent a former 22nd overall pick out of town for a tree stump with arms.
• Needless to say, however will still be said, that Tinordi was extremely mishandled in Montreal for his entire career from benching a due to a game-costing turnover after a previously solid game or only having him play three games despite opportunities being presented.
• In the trio of games Tinordi played this season saw him record a minus-three rating and no points, however the stat line wasn’t indicative to his otherwise solid play.
• The season prior to being dealt and put on waivers three times John Scott had a career-high three goals and four points with San Jose.
• Bartley has one goal and 33 points in 112 career games with the Nashville Predators.
• In my mind, the reason for this trade is that it is a pre-cursor to another transaction. Admittedly this is more of a hope.

► Dear Lord not another

• On a decrepit day in a 2015-16 campaign that’s had many, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet gave Canadiens fans another reason to crawl in a ball and worry.
• In a radio interview with 630 CHED in Edmonton, the Sportsnet insider gave his opinion on Marc Bergevin’s willingness to part with assets, including Alex Galchenyuk.
• “Look – What does [Bergevin] have to trade? […],” he noted “I think under the right circumstances, he would consider moving Galchenyuk. But it’s got to be the right circumstances.”
• “The other guy that people want from Montreal is their American Hockey League center, Michael McCarron[…],” said Friedman “He’s a big, strong center and Montreal doesn’t have a lot of that. They’re not too interested in trading it.”
• As a final realistic punch in the gut, Friedman ended with this “So I think a lot of the pieces that other teams want from the Canadiens, Marc Bergevin isn’t that willing to give up.”

► DLR up, Andrighetto, Carr down

• A day after the pair was utilized in the team’s bottom six the Canadiens have sent down Sven Andrighetto and Daniel Carr and in turn given Jacob de la Rose the chance to prove his worth.
• After a strong start that saw his possession numbers skyrocket, the Swiss forward’s play took a miniature swan dive just like his playing time. Andrighetto had four goals and five points in 17 games in the NHL.
• Carr, on the other hand, had been a mainstay on Alex Galchenyuk’s underwhelming wing, leading the team in scoring during the Habs’s slump. He had five goals and seven points in 17 games in Montreal.
• De la Rose, who’s unadorned playing style and stats have garnered questioning from the fanbase, was, by all accounts, said to have been playing better than his stats would indicate. De La Rose has been injured for one-third of the season so far.
• These moves are very much to evaluate all assets in preparation for the trade deadline, De la Rose hasn’t gotten a look yet in 2016 and will look to impress on the fourth line with Mitchell and Flynn.
• In addition, De la Rose is a far better fit with the bottom-six being a strong skater, with a willingness to use his size and is defensively responsible.

► Tempers to flare once again

• Once one of the fiercest rivalries in the entire NHL, the Colorado Avalanche and Detroit Red Wings will face off as apart of the NHL’s Stadium Series and some familiar faces will be present.
• In the alumni game, Hall of Famers Ray Bourque, Rob Blake, Adam Foote, Peter Forsberg, Patrick Roy and Joe Sakic will be in attendance for the Avs as Nicklas Lidstrom, Tomas Holmstrom and Dino Ciccarelli will represent the ‘Wings.
• One notable matchup will be between Kirk Maltby and Claude Lemieux who had many a hard fought battle back in the days in what ch they were both in the NHL.
• The Stadium Series game between the Avalanche and Red Wings will take place February 27th as the alumni hit the ice the day before.

► Bonino out a month

• The reeling Pittsburgh Penguins have lost virtuous forward Nick Bonino for the next month due to a hand injury he sustained in a 3-2 loss to the Hurricanes.
• Being behind the likes of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin has had it’s toll on the centreman’s point totals of late, only recording 10 points in 40 games however is heavily utilized in a defensive role.
• No call ups were needed to fill the 27-year old’s spot on the roster as free agent acquisition Eric Fehr will fill his spot on the Penguins’ third line.
• Pens head coach Mike Sullivan says the team will very much miss the former Canuck. “He’s a really smart player. He’s been a big part of the penalty kill. He’s a guy that you can lean on to take faceoffs in the defensive zone when you need him.”

► Fiala pots number 1

• Not only did Kevin Fiala get the peerless opportunity to play with Ryan Johansen and James Neal, but he also found the back of the net for the first time in his NHL career.
• Last season the 5-foot-10-inch forward played his one and only other NHL regular season game against the Canadiens last season where he didn’t record any points.
• Fiala, who’s out of the emerging Swiss hockey program, scored his first career NHL goal beating Connor Hellebuyck less than a minute into a game against the Jets.

► Tootoo fined for diving

• Jordin Tootoo of the New Jersey Devils has been fined $2,000 after being caught for diving for the second time.
• In a game against the Detroit Red Wings a couple weeks ago, the original infraction was on October 18th against the rival New York Rangers.
• This isn’t the inaugural time a Devils has been fined for such infraction this season, Tootoo’s teammate Bobby Farnham was also fined $2,000 for a dive in December.
• The Churchill, Manitoba native spent the majority of his career in Nashville prior to ended up in Detroit and then New Jersey.
