	On this day in hockey history… 1955 — Jean Beliveau scores 3 power play goals in 44 seconds, all on the same power play. Bert Olmstead assisted on all three. Montreal 4 – Boston 2.  1959 — Gordie Howe had a goal and an assist to top the 1,000 point mark (including the playoffs) in his 947th career game. It came in an 8-3 loss to the visiting Boston Bruins. 1983 — Rangers and Nordiques set an NHL record for the fastest two goals at the start of a period by two teams (14 seconds). Andre Savard scored for Quebec at :08 of the 3rd and Pierre Larouche replied for the Rangers at :14. NY tied 4-4 in Quebec City.

► Game Day

• The Canadiens skated the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard on Thursday morning prior to their matchup with the New York Islanders. For a Game Day preview see: Islanders vs Canadiens – Preview, Lines, Goalies, TV, Fantasy
• Mike Condon will make his fourth straight start in goal. Dustin Tokarski is the backup.
• No lineup changes are expected meaning that Alex Semin and Jarred Tinordi will once again sit out.

► Penguins down IceCaps

• The Canadiens AHL affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps are on a six-game road trip in Pennsylvania. They split a two-game series in Allentown and were on the wrong side of a decision to the Hershey Bears.

►  De La Rose focused on improving

• Canadiens prospect Jacob De La Rose was a surprising final cut following training camp. He has returned to the AHL after having the trust of Michel Therrien for 35 regular season games.
• IceCaps Hockey Report caught up with Jacob for an interview.

► Pateryn sent down

• Canadiens defenceman Greg Pateryn was sent down to the AHL to join the IceCaps on a conditioning stint which makes him exempt from waivers.
• Pateryn, along with fellow teammate Jarred Tinordi, have yet to play a game in the NHL in 2015-16 due to the outstanding play of the Habs’ defensive core.
• To correspond with NHL regulations Pateryn’s trip to the AHL will last a maximum of 14 days.
• Many have been asking why Jarred Tinordi didn’t also make his way down to the rock and there are possibilities. 1. They kept him as an emergence option in case of an injury. 2. They don’t want the large defenceman getting injured in case they want to move him.
• According to Elliotte Friedman the price for the former first round pick would be two second rounders.
• Last season in 53 games with the Bulldogs he had three goals and 15 points and a minus-1 rating. With the Canadiens last year he had no points and a plus-6 rating in 17 regular season games and three assists in seven playoff games.

► Alrighty then…

• On Sportsnet’s Bob McCown’s Prime Time radio show, the man who needs no introduction, Don Cherry gave his thoughts on the league-best Montreal Canadiens.
• “If you look at all the games, [Carey Price] bails them out game after game,” noted the former Boston Bruins bench boss.
• “They’ve got a real good club, don’t get me wrong. And I like the kid from Boston, Condon; he’s doing a good job too. But they’ve got a long ways to go.”
• Cherry further elaborated on his original cop-out, “They’ve got one great scorer in Pacioretty, but to me, you’ve got to have more than that. They’ve got a great record now; I hope they keep it up. They’re the one Canadian team — other than Vancouver, I think — that’s got a real shot at the Stanley Cup, but it’s tough to put them with the top echelon, Chicago and guys like that yet.”
• “It’s a long season, as they say, before that.

► Part of the jersey revealed

• The Montreal Canadiens’ Twitter account is doing the same thing they did prior to revealing their new home and away jerseys by tweeting parts of their new jerseys.
• In preparation for their bout with the Boston Bruins in Massachusetts for the Winter Classic the Habs will be unveiling their new jerseys for the event on November sixth.
• Below you will find one of several tweets that are our sneak preview at what the Habs’ Winter Classic uniform will look like; the team already unveiled the logo at the press conference to announce the event.

► Byfuglien not suspended

• Following a dangerous hit on Habs forward Brendan Gallagher Dustin Byfuglien will not be facing any supplemental discipline from the league.
• Considering Mark Stone, who had no prior history of suspensions, got two games for hi clear hit to the head of Landon Ferrero of the Red Wings many expected Byfuglien, a repeat offender, would get a minimum of a game, let alone a fine.
• Gallagher voiced his displeasure with the hit in his post-game media scrum and spoke about his attempted retribution “I was pretty angry. There was a delayed penalty on the play, so once I saw he was going to get it, I started to let up, and then obviously took a shot.”

► The Oilers lose their star

• Edmonton Oiler and NHL fans in general had their heart ripped out Wednesday afternoon when President and General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced that Connor McDavid will be out multiple months.
• McDavid suffered the injury the day prior in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers when he collided with the boards and defenceman Brandon Manning.
• The Oilers will be getting sniper Jordan Eberle back shortly which begs the question about whether the team will move Leon Draisatl, who’s playing right wing on one of the hottest lines in hockey, to centre the second line.
• On the topic, Chiarelli noted “[head coach Todd McClellan and I] thought about [moving Draisatl to centre].”

► Kelly out for the season

• The Boston Bruins were off to a surprisingly optimistic beginning to the season despite losing multiple players to injuries early on but the team has lost another forward.
• The former Ottawa Senators centreman fractured his femur and will be out six-eight months all but ending his 2015-16 season.
• The injury isn’t as large of a blow for the B’s as it might’ve been in season’s past as Kelly had become into a player predominantly known as “good locker room guy.”
• This year was a contract season for the veteran and considering the amount of contracts given out to players of his stature he might be hard pressed to find a job next season.
• The Bruins called up Maxim Talbot to fill his spot in the lineup.

► Riiiiiiiight

• New York Rangers defenceman Marc Staal pulled a Milan Lucic the other night by spearing Capitals Captain Alex Ovechkin in the groin but Staal had a different interpretation that he voiced during the post-game scrum.
• “I was standing there, holding my ice, and he kind of skated into my stick. I’m entitled to my ice as much as he is, so I just stood there,” said Staal. “He wasn’t happy. I poked the bear a little bit there. Not the first time. He’s an intense guy. That’s kind of how it shook out early on.”
• “The Great Eight” had cautionary words for the Rangers D-man after the game, “That’s a hockey game. It’s physical. He doesn’t want to get hit. But if he wants, hit the right way.”
