MONTREAL, QC. — On Friday, the Montreal Canadiens announced that Jordan Weal had been signed for the 2019-’20 and 2020-’21 seasons. General manager Marc Bergevin inked the 27-year-old forward to a two-year, one-way contract with an average annual value of $1,400,000.

The news on Weal came one day after the Canadiens general manager had signed Nate Thompson.

The native of North Vancouver, BC. finished his 63-game season with the Canadiens after suiting up for the Philadelphia Flyers and Arizona Coyotes earlier in the year. In Montreal, Weal recorded four goals, six assists in 16 games. Overall, his 21 points matched a career high.

“It was obviously a pretty crazy year. When I got traded to the Canadiens, coming in right away the guys were such a great group of guys,” said Weal. “It just lets you fit in right away and do your thing.”

Jordan Weal was acquired from the Arizona Coyotes on February 25th in exchange for Michael Chaput. Weal was selected in the third round, 70th overall, by the Los Angeles Kings at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
