MONTREAL — Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Monday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year contract (2017-18) with free agent defenseman Jakub Jerabek.

Jerabek, 25, recorded 34 points (5 goals, 29 assists) in 59 games with the KHL’s Vityaz Podolsk in 2016-17. He ranked fourth among league defensemen in assists and fifth in points. Four of his goals were scored on the powerplay and he tallied one game-winning goal as well. The Plzen, Czech Republic native served 56 penalty minutes and averaged 21:47 of ice time per game. Jerabek added two points (1-1-2) in four playoff contests.

Jerabek played 308 career games (2008-09 to 2015-16) with Plzen in the Czech Elite League, registering 99 points (16 goals, 83 assists) and 230 penalty minutes.

On the international stage, the 5’11” and 190 lbs defenseman suited up for the Czech Republic at the 2009 U-18 World Championship, the 2010 and 2011 World Junior Championships, and the World Championship in 2016.
