MONTREAL, QC. — The Montreal Canadiens have announced that Carey Price will not be participating in the 2019 All-Star Game in San Jose.

General Manager Marc Bergevin along with Habs medical staff made the decision earlier today and informed Price.

“We all agreed that the best decision for him would be to rest and recuperate during the upcoming All-Star Break.”

“We took the time to discuss the situation with Carey and the medical group earlier today, and we all agreed that the best decision for him would be to rest and recuperate during the upcoming All-Star Break,” said Bergevin. “Carey has had a nagging injury for some time, and we want to make sure to have him healthy and rested for the second half of the season. Carey is honored to once again have been named to the NHL All-Star Game, and he is on board with the Club’s decision.”

Price was selected on January 2nd as the lone representative of the Montreal Canadiens for the event on January 26th at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. NHL Hockey Operations will choose another goaltender as a replacement for Price.

Defenceman Shea Weber is on the 2019 NHL All-Star Last Men In ballot. If not selected, the Canadiens will not have a representative at the game.

Price currently has a record of 16-11-4 with 2.76 goals against average and .908 save percentage. Price is on pace this season to become Montreal all time winning goaltender.
