Habs Lesser Known Prospects making a name for themselves

An excerpt from the HabProspects.com article:

Joe Stejskal didn’t score a goal last night. Why is this news you ask, going into last night’s game, he had six goals in six games played, after scoring only one goal last season in 32 games. Stejskal jumped into the ECAC last year right from the USHS where he played for Grand Rapids High School, a well known program in Minnesota as is the case for others like Ryan McDonagh’s Cretin Derham Hall, David Fischer’s Apple Valley, J T Wyman’s Blake School, and Danny Kristo’s Eden Prairie. Stejskal had an impressive 14 goals in his senior year so he knows how to put the puck in the net, with a cannon of a shot that he has.

  1. It would be nice if Stejskal came through for the Habs, it doesn’t look like any of the other Minnesota high school draft picks will. Trevor Timmins was guilty of massively overrating the quality of play in that league. If you look at the performance of players from last summer’s draft, the guys taken out of the USHL are far outperforming high school draftees at the next level. In relation to where they were taken in the draft.

John Carlson and Patrick Wiercioch look like absolute steals at this point, compared to Jake Gardiner, Aaron Ness, Derek Stepan, etc. You could compare Max Pacioretty to Patrick White who was taken near him in last year’s draft. Pacioretty is a step away from the NHL, White can’t play regularly in the NCAA.
