 Post-game Chatter

186237429_slideCoach Michel Therrien

  • “It’s always special (to face your former team.) We know that it was important for [GM Marc Bergevin and goalie coach Stephane Waite] but honestly we don’t want to take (the game as) a personal challenge. Marc was pretty happy.
  • “There are a lot of positives and there’s a lot of things that we could build on, on the type of game like this. First of all, confidence.  I think that confidence for a hockey team is crucial.  And the way we wanted to play the game. Our players want to play that game as well and they got rewarded.”
  • “They followed the game plan very well.  And they stuck to the game plan. Even when [the Blackhawks] tied up the game, we didn’t change nothing. We finished the game with a big win.  They got rewarded by paying the price tonight and they got success.”
  • “There is nothing that we can do about the last game (against the Flyers.) The only thing that we could do is learn from it.  The most important thing is to control the present and this is what we did.”
  • “I thought that (Alexei) Emelin probably played his best game. He’s a kid (who) we have a lot of confidence in. We know where we want to bring his game. He’s a good kid. He cares. (Assistant coach) Jean-Jacques Diagneault spent a lot of time with him. [His performance in tonight’s game] is a good first step. He’s gotta build on that. I thought that he played good, [Andrei Markov] played fantastic but to be honest, everyone played a really good hockey game. Everyone. That’s why I’m so proud.”
  • “(Tomas) Plekanec had a huge challenge tonight playing against probably one of the top lines in the NHL. [Plekanec’s] line, him, (Brian) Gionta and Travis Moen raised their game with the challenge tonight. They knew that if we wanted to have a chance to win, those guys need to play at probably their best game.  If they had a fair game, we were going to be in trouble. They did play really, really well. They played both sides of the ice. they played the right way and I was really pleased to see the way those three guys played together.”

Defenseman Andrei Markov

  • “It was a good challenge for us to play against a good team, and we got the two points. When you score the goal in overtime, it’s always fun.”

Goaltender Carey Price

  • “[Tomas Plekanec] threw us all on his back and carried us.”
