 Game Recap:

The Senators scored just 13 seconds into the game and dominated a sloppy, mistake-prone Canadiens team in the first period taking a 3-1 after 20 minutes. Carey Price made big saves keeping the game close as the Habs clawed their way back.  Montreal squandered five power-play opportunities including a lengthy 5-on-3.

 Post-game Chatter

186237429_slideCoach Michel Therrien:

  • “[Danny Briere] competed tonight. This is what we asked from Danny. He played a really good game.”
  • “It’s a process with [Alexei Emelin.] We will work with him. (Assistant coach) Jean-Jacques (Daigneault) is going to be spending a lot of time (with him.) It’s a good step. He was more physical (eight hits) and the reason he was more physical is that he was moving his feet.”
  • “Chemistry (on a line) is hard to explain sometimes. To make sure that there is a chemistry and that you get success, from our standpoint, you must compete. That’s the number one thing. Danny (Briere) competed tonight.”

Forward Danny Briere:

  • “It’s a good feeling. I felt like I’ve been waiting for a big game like that for a long time. It’s a good feeling to feel a part of the team, to feel like you’re helping out.”

Senators forward Mark Stone:

  • “[My first NHL goal] was exciting. Carey Price is one of the best goalies in the League, so I’ll always have memories of that.”

Senators goalie Craig Anderson:

  • “They came with a big push in the third and they took it to us a little bit. But after those two goals we weathered it and were able to push back a little bit, were able to generate some chances and draw a penalty going to the net hard. Our special teams were able to do the job tonight.”
