Game Preview by Sam Gerber |
Last game : MTL 1 OTT 2 F/OT It was a back and forth game where the Habs once again failed to finish their chances. A mix-up in overtime cost the Habs an extra point.

Players to watch
- Max Domi
Domi will be back at center where Max says he wants to be. It’s time that he increases his effort level to get him going on offense.
- Cale Fleury
When Fleury hits, he goes through them using his entire body. It may be making teams think again about carrying the puck in against him.
- Tomas Tatar
Tatar has been a minus player the last three games. He has been staying out of the box but the Habs need more effort from him on the defensive side.
Keys to Victory
- Win special teams
The Rangers have some high end talent that can take over when given chances on the power-play. NYR can also take penalties and the Habs have to take advantage.
- Finish chances
It was another game where the Habs lacked finish. Montreal have a balanced set of forwards but none are known as a pure goal scorers which may be a factor when it comes to finishing.
- Play with energy
The Rangers played last night and will be tired, the Habs need to play with energy all game long never taking their foot of the gas once.

Pre-game quotes |
Nate Thompson
- “[Artemi Panarin] is just so dynamic, the way he sees the ice, the plays he makes. He’s one of those guys that creates space for himself when it’s not there and that’s a pretty elite thing to do. So, he’s one of those guys we have to make sure that when he’s on the ice, we’re aware of it.”

What to Expect by Sam Gerber |
The Habs haven’t been playing particularly poorly of late but it is concerning that they have lost three in a row to non-playoff teams. The Habs have to take advantage of mismatches. Montreal’s best players have to show up and make a difference. |
