Game Preview by Sam Gerber, Staff Writer |
Last game: MTL 2 CHI 0
The Canadiens played much better overall on Sunday. Charlie Lindgren was the star of the game posting his first NHL shutout. Jonathan Drouin put the Habs up 1-0 early in the third followed by a point blast from Joe Morrow, his first goal as a Canadien.
For a complete recap: Lindgren is Outstanding With 38-Save Shutout
Players to watch
- Alex Galchenyuk
Galchenyuk showed chemistry with Jonathan Drouin on the first line and connecting on the winning goal in Chicago.
- James Neal
Neal has been carrying the load for the Golden Knights on offence with 12 points this season.
- Victor Mete
After a good start, Mete’s play has regressed significantly with a corresponding reduction in ice time, under 11 minutes for the past two games. Mete may play more at home where the coaching staff can control matchups.
- Nate Schmidt
Schmidt is having a breakout season, and should easily surpass his season high in points. Schmidt plays over 20 minutes a game and has turned into a solid two-way defender for the Knights.
Keys to Victory
- Match energy
Vegas plays every shift with energy using it to control games. The Habs must match their energy shift-by-shift.
- Slow the game
If the Canadiens can slow the game down they can force turnovers to take advantage of the Knights high-risk, high-reward offence.
- Go to the net
The Golden Knights are experiencing a goalie turnstile with three netminders on the injury list. Tonight’s starter has limited NHL experience and can feel the pressure early from fans at the Bell Centre. The Habs must get to him early.
