Pre-game Notes and Quotes
  • P. K. Subban on Alex Galchenyuk‘s move to center: “Today was the perfect example of him maturing. You could see the puck was bouncing all over the place. He stuck with it and stuck with it and he was finally rewarded for it. You have to give him some credit.”
  • Patrice Bergeron on the Bruins’ loss to Winnipeg on Thursday: “You know, too many times we’ve done that last year, we’ve got to take what’s good, but also what’s bad and fix it. We can’t just sit here and say that we generated some good chances and what not. We’ve got to find some results and we’ve got to keep harping on that [Friday] and be better on Saturday.”
  • Zdeno Chara is still listed as Day-to-Day and is questionable for Saturday’s game.
  • Zdeno Chara: “Whatever needs to be said — I’m sure they’re pretty familiar with that [rivalry] — but whatever needs to be said is going to be said, I think pretty much everybody is aware of the rivalry we have, and it doesn’t get any better than that.”
  • Max Pacioretty: “There were small details of what we liked, and then there were times when we got away from it. That’s when we ran into trouble. It’s something to build off of. There were definitely flashes of positives. We know we have more in this room, and it’s inspiring.”

Fantasy Outlook
  • Alex Galchenyuk’s move to center has paid off so far this season as he went 7/10 in the faceoff circle, had two shots on net, scored the game winning goal and earned the 3rd star of the game. Whether you play in daily leagues or yearly leagues, Galchenyuk is a must start vs. the Bruins on a Saturday that’s full of games.
  • Tuukka Rask had a poor outing in the season opener vs. the Winnippeg Jets, letting in five goals on 31 shots. If Zdeno Chara is able to return for tonight’s game, Rask would be much attractive option in net; if not, I would start him cautiously as the Bruins did not play well defensively last game.
  • If you were lucky enough to catch David Krejci in your hockey pool (in which I was not), than you can expect him to be back in his old form. An injury riddled 2014-15 season caused his stock to plummet but he was in top form Thursday vs. the Jets, logging 18:42 TOI with a team leading 4:00 on the powerplay. Not to mention he has three shots on goal and scored once.
  •  Andrei Markov was yet another player who may have been had in the later rounds of your draft this year. He started off his season on the right note with a plus-3 rating, an assist and 2 hits, all while logging 21:44. It goes to show that still remains a big part of the Canadiens defense core, even though he is 36 years old.
