Pre-game Notes and Quotes |
- P. K. Subban on his recent neck injury, in which he is slated to soon return from: “I’m excited to get back into the lineup and help my teammates. There are still eight games left to play, that’s what I’m focused on right now. It definitely felt great to be back out with the guys for practice today. It hasn’t been an easy year for anyone, but it is encouraging to see the young guys stepping up. That’s just how hockey works. When I first arrived I needed to compete against the veterans to earn a spot. I’ve been in their shoes before.”
- Mike Brown, who was a huge reason the Canadiens won against the surging Ducks, had this to say about their most recent win: “This was a character game. We showed up to play and we got the two points, we’ve had our fair amount of chances, but we know we have to contribute. We can’t spend too much time in our D zone, and at the other end we have to pop some pucks in. We’ve been waiting a little bit of time, but we finally got a couple tonight and helped the boys win, so it was huge for us.”
- The schedule for the Canadiens is simple over the next three weeks as they play every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday until the season wraps up.
- While the Canadiens have a 27-16-3 record versus teams in the Eastern Conference this season, the Red Wings have a 22-16-8 record against teams from the East.
- So far this season, the Canadiens have a 15-8-1 record versus teams in the Atlantic division, while the Red Wings have a 14-8-3 record versus teams coming from the Atlantic.
- The Canadiens have maintained their place in the standings for the goals against category, as they are currently in 23rd in the league in goals against, with 212 in 74 games. The Red Wings have allowed 196 goals in 73 games and find themselves in 16th in the league.
- The Canadiens have jumped up in the standings for the goals scored category as they are currently in 16th place in the NHL, with 196 over their first 74 games. The Red Wings are 22th in this category with 186 goals scored in their first 73 games.
