Post-game Press Conference |
- “First of all, the (David) Desharnais line with (Max) Pacioretty and (Thomas) Vanek, if you look at the last 10 games, even before the playoffs, 5-on-5 they were not producing enough. So I talked to the players this morning and we decided to make a change, bring probably a bit more energy to our lines. I liked what the result of this because (Brendan) Gallagher, this is a guy that brings energy on every line that he’s going to play (on.) And Vanek made a hell of a play on the first goal. So I was pleased with the change.”
- “For us I think we need the right attitude to approach tonight’s game, playing in front of our fans certainly was a big boost. We took the lead and we were playing really well. But I liked the way we played the third period. We only allowed seven shots. And this is something that we did well all year long, play with the lead and make sure that we finish the job. Again tonight, guys were battling really hard, paying the price, blocking shots. And Carey (Price) made some key saves at the right time. It was a good team effort.”
- “P.K. (Subban) is a gamer. This is what I appreciate with him. Our attitude as a team, we got a business attitude. We approach games with a business mindset. This is what I like about our group. We have to take some tough decisions at times but we have a lot of depth. I’m really pleased with our depth. I’m not afraid to move guys in and out.”
- “We need energy on every line. I like the balance that we show on every line.”
- “[Douglas Murray] made his presence felt. I liked how he was physically involved, he kept things simple. He’s a guy that has a lot of respect from his teammates. We could feel that Douglas was in the lineup tonight.”
- “When you look at the results they had, I think we had reached a point where we needed to make adjustments. That’s part of our responsibilities as coaches to make the right adjustments to get the best out of our team.”
Goalie Carey Price
- “[P.K. Subban] is a really good hockey player. He’s been harnessing his emotions very well and he’s been playing really solid hockey. He’s really shown why he’s the Norris Trophy winner.”
Defenseman P.K. Subban
- “It’s not one or two guys, it’s everybody. It starts with Pricey (Carey Price) on the ice from our defense to our forwards and we’re sticking together. When we have adversity we’re sticking together and we’re doing the right things, and as a player it’s fun to play on teams where you know guys are going to support you whether you make a mistake or not.”
Bruins defenceman Johnny Boychuk
- “They’re getting a little bit in behind us and they’re getting those passes. I mean, that was two breakaway goals. That’s usually not like that for us but we’ll probably look over it (Wednesday) and we’ll try to correct that as soon as possible because we can’t let that happen.“
Bruins forward David Krejci
- “We stayed out of the penalty box for a very long time today. We didn’t give them many power plays, so that was a positive thing, but we have to play on the edge. It comes back to the first period; I think the game was lost there, even though we had a chance to come back.”
Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask
- “I had so much time I flipped my stick and should maybe have gone to my backhand to Torey (Krug). And there’s a turnover and a couple of seconds later it’s in our net.”
- “I should probably have banged my stick on the ice a bit and let the guys know the penalty’s ending, but it looked like we had things under control and then our guys went at their one guy and forgot about Subban there. Mistakes happen and it ended up costing us.”
- “I don’t think we played bad. We just made stupid mistakes that ended up costing us the game.”
Bruins head coach Claude Julien
- “When you look at the goals that were scored tonight, the biggest thing was a lack of awareness of where they were on the ice. I thought our lack of awareness really ended up costing us tonight. Certainly, we dug ourselves a hole too big to get out of tonight.”
- “When you saw us start finding our game, it didn’t really matter. They played a better game tonight than they did probably in Boston. Our team wasn’t good enough at the start to give ourselves a chance. We need to rebound here and make sure that we’re ready from the start of the game at the drop of the puck.”
- “The way we just battled back through, I felt, a lot of crap that we put up with today, was pretty indicative of what our team’s all about.”
- “If we stole this [game], they stole the first one. I think what’s pretty obvious right now is that if we focus on what we need to do and try and not let the distractions of things we can’t control get to us, we’re going to be okay.”
