 Post-game Press Conference

186237429_slideHead coach Michel Therrien

  • “There are a lot of positives. First the power-play was really effective tonight. Carey Price was outstanding. Both goalies were good. Tuukka Rask made some key saves.”
  • “The Bruins played a really solid game. There’s a lot positive about how we find a way to win. We looked like a team that hadn’t played for ten days. Our timing was not right. I know our team is going to be better next game.”
  • “The Bruins were the best team in the league all season long. They had a good first round (of the playoffs.) We have to focus to be better in a few things that we’re going to correct tomorrow.”
  • Carey Price was extraordinary; the power play was very effective. We definitely wanted to go get that first game. I feel the team will become more and more involved in the series the longer it goes, because we haven’t played for ten days. This was a huge win for the confidence of our team.”

Goalie Carey Price

  • “It was a battle, it was exactly what we were expecting. We just gutted it out. It was a hard-fought game, it could’ve gone either way.”
  • “We were pushed back on our heels a little bit, I thought, in the third with home-ice pressure. They’re a relentless team. They pushed back and worked their way back into the hockey game and you’ve got to give them some credit.”

Defenseman P.K. Subban

  • “Between all our centermen and Carey Price, I thought they were huge for us today. Both goaltenders played well. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, in my opinion [Price] is the best goaltender in the league and he showed that again today.”

NHL: Boston Bruins at Carolina HurricanesBruins goalie Tuukka Rask

  • “We played overall good 5-on-5, pretty much dominated. Had a lot of chances, couldn’t score. I was (expletive) tonight. When you suck, you suck . . . I made some saves, I couldn’t make the game-saver . . .  I need to be better. From a goaltending standpoint (Carey) Price outplayed me tonight.”

Bruins defenseman Torey Krug

  • “Yeah, [Carey Price] played well. He made the saves he needed to win the game. But we had a lot of opportunities, a lot of pucks lying around him and we didn’t do a great job of making sure our sticks were heavy around their net. Their defensemen were picking our guys up and it was a little too easy for him.”

Bruins head coach Claude Julien

  • “This is just Game No. 1 here. You don’t get frustrated after one game.”
