Bob Gainey spoke to the media prior to today’s Habs practice in St. Jovite. He confirmed the organization has extended Guy Carbonneau’s contract.
Gainey also surprisingly stated that Max Pacioretty should start the season with the Hamilton Bulldogs but in the same breath, explained that no final decision has been made at this point.
The fact Pacioretty could start the season in Hamilton isn’t surprising and I believe it’s the best thing for his continual development. With that said, I’m surprised Gainey made his opinion public before there was a final meeting with his coaching and scouting staff. Maybe he already had that meeting but I find it a bit strange he wouldn’t wait until after tomorrow’s game against the Minnesota Wild.
