A Look Back

The Habs finally got a good start, something that’s been missing for several games. But the Habs allowed the Leafs to come back in the second period. Josh Anderson was the hero who decided to shoot the puck. It was a refreshing change given we have seen a Habs player pass the puck far too often in a similar situation.

Players to Watch

• Nick Suzuki
  Suzuki has found a spot on the power-play and if the Habs can gain control from the start of the man advantage, he should get a lot more looks and make his mark.
• Alexander Romanov
  With two new additions to the Habs blueline on their way, some have wondered if Romanov may get some games in the press box. He quieted those speculations last game with all around physical presence not backing down from anyone.
• Josh Anderson
  Anderson had one of his best games of the season and could have had a few more goals if he had a bit more puck luck. He’s going to be a key player for the Habs down the stretch.

Keys to Victory

• Finish chances
  The Habs were up by two goals but allowed the Leafs to come back. Montreal had a few chances to add to their lead. The Habs have to finish when they get a chance as allowing teams back in the game isn’t usually a recipe for success.
• Maintain focus
  The two goals given up by the Habs were a lack of focus where a player was left alone. The Habs have to be tighter on defence and not be caught puck watching.
• Use speed
  Speed was the biggest success for the Habs last game and they have to use that again against a Flames team on the second game of a back-to-back.

Bottom Line

The Habs would be wise to use their speed and be relentless on the attack as the Flames played a tight checking game against the Leafs last game and will look to do the same tonight.
