Game Report

The Los Angeles Kings are one of the top teams in the Western Conference and that was abundantly clear on Thursday night. The Kings controlled the neutral zone and  effectively limited the Canadiens offence. The Habs managed just 13 shots on goal at 5-on-5 in the entire game.

Yet with the help of a first period power-play goal by Josh Anderson and outstanding goaltending from Jake Allen, the Canadiens were even with the Kings, locked in a 1-1 tie after 40 minutes.

The Kings scored twice within a span of 1:03 in the third period to break the game open. After Denis Gurianov’s first goal as a Canadien, Los Angeles skated to a 3-2 win.

Joel Edmundson returned to action after being sidelined for 11-games with an upper body injury. The Canadiens started the game with seven defenceman and 11 forwards. Justin Barron left the game with an upper-body injury in the first period after a hit by Carl Grundstrom and did not return.
