A Look Back

It was a tight affair to start in Minnesota Tuesday night with the Habs owning a 15-7  shot advantage in a scoreless first period. Their momentum was swiftly stolen as the Wild proceeded to score three unanswered goals in the second period with Kirill “the thrill” Kaprizov netting two. The Canadiens showed a sliver of light when the captain Nick Suzuki was able to pot one at the 13:30 mark of the third but was ultimately not enough to capture a win as Marc-Andre Fleury held the fort down against the Habs once again.

Players to Watch

• Cole Caufield
  Before Tuesday night, the 5-foot-7-inch winger had six points in three games. Although he wasn’t able to find net against the Wild, Caufield has been producing close to a point-per game pace.
• Kirby Dach
  The 21-year-old seems to be settling in with his new team. Dach has been able to find three assists in the last two games. He could be finding an extra gear through ten games played.
• Joel Edmundson
  Edmundson is officially listed as a game-time decision but is expected to make his season debut against the Jets. Chris Wideman will be the odd man out on defence. To make room on the roster, Evgenii Dadonov has been placed on injured reserve.

Keys to Victory

• Find the net
  The Canadiens struggled to find mesh against the Wild Tuesday night. With the way Connor Hellebuyck is tending this season boasting a .931 save percentage, the Habs will have to find a way to apply the pressure.
• Limit defensive errors
  In the defensive zone, players should be taking their man and applying coverage. Each of the Wild’s goals Tuesday night came from in close. Limiting high danger opportunities and relieving pressure on the Canadiens net-minder will be key to a win.
• Find an offensive flare
  The team needs to find more net. Mimicking their performance in St. Louis on October 29th would fare well for them. Getting some production from the bottom-six would take some weight off the shoulders of the top performers.
