Carey Price named the Canadiens 2013-14 Molson Cup player of the year

MONTREAL (April 11, 2014) – Goaltender Carey Price is the Montreal Canadiens Molson Cup Player of the Year for the 2013-14 season.

Born in Anahim Lake, British Columbia, Price, who was the Canadiens’ Player-of-the-Month in October, January and April, finished ahead of teammates Max Pacioretty, Tomas Plekanec, David Desharnais and Brendan Gallagher.

The netminder played 58 games thus far in the 2013-14 regular season, for a career total of 368, ranking him fifth on the team’s all-time list for most games played by a goaltender. Price has posted a record of 33 wins, 20 losses and 5 overtime/shootout losses along with a 2.36 goals-against-average. He has blocked 1,653 of the 1,757 shots he faced for a career-high .925 save percentage

Price recorded five shutouts in 2013-14 ranking him tied for third among NHL goaltenders. He now totals 24 in his career, earning seventh spot in team history.

In 2013-14, the Molson Cup scoring system awards three points for a first star selection, two points for a second star selection and a single point for a third star selection.
