MONTREAL –The Montreal Canadiens announced Friday that defenseman Yannick Weber has been assigned to the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs. Weber will report the Bulldogs today in Hamilton. The Bulldogs will play their next game against the Abbotsford Heat on Sunday, December 13.
Weber, 21, had been recalled from Hamilton on December 9. Recalled for the first time this season on October 4, the 5’11’’, 193 lbs defenseman played three games with the Canadiens earlier this season before being assigned to Hamilton on October 12. He was held pointless with one shot on goal, while averaging 14:50 minutes of ice time per game.
Weber recorded six points (1-5-6) in 22 games with the Bulldogs this season. He added 59 shots on goal and 22 penalty minutes, with a +5 plus/minus differential.
umm what the heck is going on with the Habs randomly calling up the Hammies for only one game? (and in White's case, not even a full game!).
If you take the pessimistic approach, it's because the Canadiens are disorganized. It's because they have such cap issues that it matters who's on the active list vs disabled list (this is not my forté!)
Or it could mean that Markov is very close to a return and Weber is not needed right now.
