Canadiens Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night with Leucan – Saturday October 26, 2013

8708163As part of a League-wide initiative, the Montreal Canadiens dedicate a home game to children members of Leucan, an association dedicated to helping cancer-stricken children and their families believe in a brighter future. This special evening will take place on Saturday October 26 when the San Jose Sharks will visit the Bell Centre to play the Canadiens. For the occasion, the coaching staff, team management as well as RDS broadcasters will be wearing custom woven lavender Hockey Fights Cancer ties featuring a hockey player logo throughout. Several corporations that own private suites at the Bell Centre will be supporting the Montreal Canadiens’ organization in this initiative by hosting 53 young members of Leucan and their parents in their suites for the game. Children and their parents will attend a pre-game reception hosted by the players’ spouses and enjoy a post-game meet and greet with a few players along with team mascot Youppi! In addition, the National Hockey League will make a $5,000 donation to Leucan at a pre-game ceremony in the Director’s Lounge at the Bell Centre. Furthermore, an online auction starting in November on auctions.nhl.com and featuring lavender tapped sticks of team captains, assistant captains and starting goaltender from each team will help raise additional funds for the program.

A committed partner of the Canadiens in this initiative since its inception, official broadcaster RDS will provide a night to remember to some of the young guests who will enjoy the opportunity to visit the broadcasting and production studios or call the play-by-play alongside Pierre Houde. Several RDS personalities will also be attending the pre-game reception to meet the children of Leucan and hand out souvenir gifts.
