Canadiens Blanketing the Field in All-Star Fan Balloting

from TSN.ca:

It appears as though the 57th NHL All-Star game in Montreal will resemble a home game for the Habs as Canadiens players currently lead all six starting Eastern Conference spots in fan balloting.

Canadiens fans have apparently stuffed the ballot boxes in an attempt to ice the entire starting lineup for the annual mid-winter classic as goaltender Carey Price, defencemen Andrei Markov and Mike Komisarek, along with forwards Alex Kovalev, Saku Koivu and Alex Tanguay are the leading vote-getters for the six Eastern Conference starting lineup spots.

Should the current voting trend continue, the Canadiens would be the first team ever to ice an entire starting six at an All-Star game since fan balloting to determine the lineup began.

The Habs would also beat the Edmonton Oilers’ record of five players in a starting lineup when Wayne Gretzky, Glenn Anderson, Jari Kurri, Paul Coffey and Grant Fuhr were selected to open the 1986 All-Star game in Hartford.

The vote totals are as of Tuesday 7am et./4am pt. The NHL will update the Western Conference vote totals on Wednesday.
