Bob Murray, the team’s senior vice-president of hockey operations, will take over GM duties.

The Ducks have scheduled a news conference for 3:30 p.m. ET, when they’re expected to announce the move.

Burke, 53, is in the last year of his contract with the Ducks. He joined the team in June 2005 after a six-year stint as president and GM of the Vancouver Canucks.

Burke has been rumoured to be among the candidates for the Toronto Maple Leafs’ vacant GM job, now held by Cliff Fletcher on an interim basis.
