The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Philadelphia Phantoms 4-2 in front of 2,752 fans at Copps Coliseum on Tuesday evening. Bulldogs newcomers Steve Gainey and T.J. Kemp each recorded a goal in their ‘Dogs debut while Loic Lacasse made 19 saves on 21 shots.

The ‘Dogs opened the scoring at 6:12 of the first frame. Mike Glumac took a shot on net that was saved by Philadelphia starting goaltender Michael Teslak. Alex Henry grabbed the loose rebound before sending the puck to David Desharnais, who buried it past a sprawling Teslak. The goal extended Desharnais’ point streak to six games, the longest of any Bulldog this season. Yanick Lehoux gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead while on the power play at 16:56. Dan Jancevski sent a pass to Lehoux, who raced down the right side before blasting a slapshot that went over the left shoulder of Teslak and into the top of the net.

The Phantoms got on the scoreboard at 6:40 of the second stanza with a power-play marker. Danny Syvret fed a pass over to the left point, where Sean Curry blasted a one-timer shot past Hamilton starting goaltender Loic Lacasse.

Steve Gainey regained a two-goal lead for Hamilton at 12:35 of the middle frame. Thomas Beauregard’s shot was saved by Teslak but Gainey proceeded to whack away at the loose puck until it crossed the line and into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs took a 4-1 lead at 7:16 of the final frame. T.J. Kemp received the puck at the left point before hammering a shot that beat Teslak on the short side. Assists on the goal went to Ryan White and Jancevski, his second of the night.

The Phantoms added a goal at 19:15 of the final frame. Maroon snapped a shot that beat Lacasse but it was too little too late for the Phantoms as they lost 4-2.
