Canadiens release defenceman Francis Bouillon

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin and head coach Michel Therrien met Monday morning with Francis Bouillon to advise him that the Club will not be offering him a contract for the upcoming season.

In 52 games with the Canadiens in 2013-14, Bouillon totaled six points (2 goals, 4 assists). The veteran defenseman added two goals and a +4 differential in nine playoffs contests.

Bouillon, 38, has produced 149 points (32 goals, 117 assists) in 776 regular season contests since his NHL debut with the Canadiens in 1999-2000. He also suited up for the Nashville Predators. He has scored seven powerplay goals, adding one shorthanded goal and eight winning tallies. He has added 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) in 55 playoff games.
