An excerpt from TSN:
A few days after Edmonton Oilers’ Kevin Lowe fired back at rival GM Brian Burke, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, deputy commissioner Bill Daly and executive vice-president Colin Campbell tried to pour water on the feud of the two rival team executives.

Following comments by Burke over the past year and comments Lowe made recently to an Edmonton radio station, Bettman ordered the two to cease and desist in a conference call Monday.

”We felt for a host of reasons it was important to bring the parties together and make it clear to both organizations that public comments disparaging the other were bad for the business and would no longer be tolerated,” Daly told The Canadian Press.

Habster:

I don’t know why Gary Bettman and Bill Daly didn’t step in earlier when Brian Burke was spouting off on Kevin Lowe. I don’t agree with the way Lowe insulted Burke but give him credit for at least keeping his mouth shut until just recently.

On the other hand, Burke had it coming to him with his relentless rants and continual Lowe bashing episodes. Get over it, Brian!!! and stop crying to the media. I can hardly wait until he becomes the next Leafs GM. At least the man with one of the biggest egos in hockey will be in the city with the biggest unjustified ego in hockey or should I say the “center of the universe”………a marriage made in heaven!!!
