It may still be a snowy beginning to the spring season in Montreal, but everything was coming up roses for the Canadiens in their second consecutive four-game week.  They began with an emotional rivalry game in Boston against the Bruins, for which Peter Budaj was given the nod to start in net.  It was a low-scoring game, but high in physicality.  After teammate Dale Weise left the ice due to being roughly cross-checked, Travis Moen dropped the gloves in his defense.  Neither player would return to the game.  Alexei Emelin scored a power play goal in the opening period, but the game would be decided in a shootout.  Budaj stood tall and it was Alex Galchenyuk who potted the winning goal.  Final score: Canadiens, 2-1 (SO). The Canadiens returned to Montreal the next night to take on the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre.  The goal lamp would only light two times in this game, both times in favor of the Habs.  Max Pacioretty scored his 100th goal in the third period, followed by a Danny Briere power-play goal.  Carey Price earned his fifth shutout of the season, and the Habs won their sixth game of the last seven.  Final score: Canadiens, 2-0. On Thursday night the Red Wings welcomed their fellow Original Six team to Detroit for a high-scoring matchup.  Tomas Plekanec made his presence known early with two goals in the first period.  David Desharnais added to the tally in the second period, with Pacioretty and Thomas Vanek keeping the Habs ahead of Detroit in this close game.  Final score: Canadiens, 5-4. (Read our full recap here: Resilient Habs Find a Way to Win)

Finally, the Canadiens headed south for a Saturday night game against the Florida Panthers, who would continue to struggle on this night.  The Habs scored in ever period: Vanek, Pacioretty for two (who had never previously scored a goal against the Panthers), and Desharnais with an empty-netter.  Final score: Canadiens, 4-1. The Canadiens next take on the Tampa Bay Lightning as their road trip continues on Tuesday night. Until then, we’ve got plenty of content to keep you busy reading about your favourite team! In case you missed them, here are a few fantastic articles published earlier this week:
