The Canadiens’ home stand continued this week with a matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.  Brandon Prust got the Habs on the scoreboard first, but after that it was all Alex Galchenyuk as he scored his first career hat trick.  Max Pacioretty provided the primary assist on all three of Galchenyuk’s goals.  Final score: Canadiens, 4-1. (Read our full recap here: Instant Chemistry for Galchenyuk, Pacioretty)

On Thursday, Habs fans witnessed another emotional ceremony as former captain Saku Koivu was recognized after retiring earlier this year.  Koivu delivered a touching and sincere speech to the crowd after receiving a five-minute standing ovation.  The team, however, was more lackluster in their game performance, with only David Desharnais potting a goal on a third period power play.  Pacioretty left the game with an injury after getting hit by Clayton Stoner and going into the boards.  Final score: Ducks, 2-1. The good news for the final game of the week against the Ottawa Senators? Pacioretty was back on the ice.  The bad news?  The Habs allowed a short-handed goal against in the first period.  Fortunately Montreal rebounded, and didn’t allow the Senators to score again.  Prust earned his second goal of the week, along with goals by Brendan Gallagher, Tomas Plekanec, and Galchenyuk.  Final score: Canadiens, 4-1.
