All Habs News: Friday September 2, 2011

Happy Birthday!  NHL: Former Canadiens Jay Leach and Mario Tremblay celebrate birthdays today

A Party and Nilan is bringing his Sherwood: What’s a better way to prep for the new hockey season than by joining the All Habs crew to relive the glory of the moment the Canadiens captured their 24th Stanley Cup.  Tonight we’ll be at McLean’s Pub on Peel Street in Montreal to watch:

Game 5 of the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals: Los Angeles Kings vs. Montreal Canadiens

In attendance will be 1986 Stanley Cup winner, Chris Nilan.  The former Habs winger will be there with an armful of hockey sticks and photos to sign with proceeds benefiting the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

THN picks Habs to finish eighth: Friday marks the day that The Hockey News reveals their picks for top spot in each of the Eastern and Western conferences.  THN once again raises the issue of size when analyzing the Canadiens likelihood for success this season.  They point out that the team is stocked with too many support players and not enough stars.  THN predicts an eight place finish for the Habs with the team once again relying on their Vezina-caliber goaltender Carey Price.

Cammy visits THN: Last week Mike Cammalleri was one of about 30 players who attended the BioSteel camp in Toronto.  Ryan Kennedy of THN caught up with him and captured this one-on-one interview.
