► Habs let one slip away

  • The first period was evenly played with the shots at seven a piece but the Senators led 1-0 on a power-play goal by Sens captain Erik Karlsson.
  • Canadiens dominated the second period taking a 2-1 lead with a shots on goal advantage of 12-2.
  • The third period ended in a 3-3 tie with Bobby Ryan giving the Senators the win in overtime.
  • A tough night for goaltending at both ends of the rink. Peter Budaj and Robin Lehner each gave up multiple soft goals.
  • Montreal allowed three power-play goals including the overtime winner.
  • Alex Galchenyuk, Max Pacioretty, Tomas Plekanec, Jacob De la Rose, Alexei Emelin and Jarred Tinordi all played well.
  • Following the game, there was concern for Alex Galchenyuk who left the game in the third period after going down awkwardly. Post-game Galchenyuk told reporters that he was okay.
  • There was also discussion about Chris Neil going after Max Pacioretty and questioning the wisdom of P.K. Subban prolonging a fight with AHL pugilist Mark Borowiecki.
